About Fast Feet
Fast Feet was started in 2018 by Suzie Clinchy (a former NCAA D1 runner for Wake Forest University and public school mathematics teacher) who was compelled to close the disparity in inclusive, athletic programming available that targets the physical and socioemotional benefits of exercise for neurodiverse children. Fast Feet’s mission is to make athletics, nutrition and social skills development accessible and inclusive to all people. Through the sport of running, children living with a disability are empowered to realize their athletic potential, increase their personal fitness and push past limitations associated with developmental differences through weekly practice sessions and participation in local track meets and races.
Fast Feet offers a variety of health equity programs that support and assist individuals of all abilities: In-person community running clubs create an inclusive and supportive team environment where athletes, coaches, and teachers work towards a common goal of improvement with each training session. Fast Feet also offers a variety of virtual programs that allow athletes to train at home each week over Zoom. Programs include weekly live fitness, nutrition, yoga, and social skills classes that can be completed at home without the need for equipment.
Fast Feet’s unique program fosters inclusion with neurodiverse and neurotypical children while engaging with the outdoors. About 10% of participants are neurotypical children and do not have a disability, facilitating invaluable peer-to-peer interactions that positively contribute to the social development of all children. Today, Fast Feet proudly serves over 600 families throughout New York.
Based in New York City, Fast Feet’s unique nonprofit model provides adaptive, inclusive health equity programs for families free of charge or on a sliding scale based on need. To learn more, visit www.fastfeetnyc.com.
